Revolutionizing Analytics to be Actionable, Intuitive, and Contextual

Analytics is critical to business success, but too few companies are able to use the power of analytics to its full potential. Traditional methods of displaying information like dashboards, reports, and charts require too much time and work for many users, causing adoption rates to fall. For analytics to become truly pervasive analytics need to be seamlessly integrated into the workflow process so people don’t even realize analytics are involved.

This is easier said than done, because most analytics platforms were not designed for the average user or for the full range of business decisions that these users will have to make. Instead, users are presented with information that, while useful, isn’t particularly helpful when trying to decide what actions to take. To bridge that gap we just launched GoodData Spectrum, a suite of UI capabilities to make analytics both pervasive and simple to use. With Spectrum, we’re able to deliver insights that support the full range of decision-making, from transactional to strategic, all at the point of work. These capabilities are what inspired its name, because we’re able to provide support across the entire “spectrum” of business decision-making.

In developing GoodData Spectrum, we looked at the needs of typical users who are not data scientists or business analysts, so instead of delivering more data, we’re putting the focus on delivering the right data. Users see information that is relevant to the decision at hand, and it is presented in a way that is personalized, contextual, and intuitive. Insights from the GoodData platform are integrated directly into a company’s existing workflow, creating an intuitive analytics experience that is scalable to hundreds of thousands of users.

Keeping up with the requests of all those users requires a lot of time and resources when done manually, and insights will become increasingly automated in response. In the March 2018 report, Predicts 2018: Analytics and BI Strategy, analysts Eric Brethenoux and Rita Sallam estimates that “by 2021, 75% of prebuilt reports will be replaced with or augmented by automated insights delivered on a ‘most needed’ basis.” Ahead of this trend, we’ve paired our analytics with machine learning algorithms to transform data into clear, actionable recommendations and predictions.

Current research states that we’re approaching a point at which analytics will become embedded in more and more of the products and services we use, while the way in which analytics are used must become more seamless and less burdensome for the user. We’ve designed Spectrum to specifically address the roadblocks that prevent analytics from becoming more pervasive, getting us closer to a world where analytics is truly everywhere.

I am tremendously excited about this launch. With GoodData Spectrum and its UI capabilities, we’re able to help companies see the value of analytics and achieve greater ROI.
