Create Alerts With AI Assistant
Experimental Feature
This is an experimental feature that is still under active development. Its behavior may change in future releases, or the feature may be removed.
You can use the AI Assistant to create metric-based alerts from your charts. This is useful when you want to monitor a value (for example, revenue) and get notified when it crosses a threshold.
Create an Alert From a Visualization
Create or open a visualization (for example: Revenue by month).
Ask the AI Assistant to create an alert, for example:
Watch revenue and tell me if it goes below 90K.Set an alert for revenue.Send me an email when revenue goes below 90K.
The Assistant starts creating the alert. If anything is unclear, it asks follow-up questions (for example, which metric to use or which destination to send the alert to). When the setup is complete, the Assistant confirms that the alert was created.
How The Assistant Chooses the Metric
- The Assistant uses the metric from the visualization you are working with.
- If the visualization contains multiple metrics (or the metric is unclear), the Assistant asks you to choose one.
- Only explicit MAQL metrics can be used immediately. These are metrics defined in MAQL and stored as saved metrics (the ones you can see and edit in the Metric Editor), such as
Total Revenue,Net Sales,Margin. - Ad-hoc metrics created directly from facts or attributes, such as
Sum of Revenue,Avg of Price,Min/Maxof a fact, orCountof an attribute may not work. If your visualization uses only ad-hoc metrics, the Assistant may ask you to pick a saved metric, or to create a saved metric first.
Notification Destinations
Alerts can be sent only through destinations that already exist in your organization.
- If there is only one destination, it is used automatically.
- If there are multiple destinations, the Assistant asks you to select one.
Recipients
During setup, the Assistant asks whether the alert should be sent only to you or also to others.
If the selected destination supports it, you can add:
- other workspace users (by name or role)
- external email addresses (if allowed)
Trigger Frequency and Alert Title
- By default, the alert triggers every time the condition is met.
- You can ask for a one-time trigger (for example:
Trigger it only once.) - The title is generated automatically, but you can rename it before the alert is created.
