Consume Accessible Dashboards
This article is for users who have accessibility needs and want to know how GoodData supports them when using dashboards and other product features.
GoodData is designed to help everyone work with data easily. Accessibility features make dashboards usable with different input methods, assistive technologies, and visual preferences.
Keyboard Navigation
GoodData supports full keyboard navigation for core dashboard features. You can move between filters, charts, and visualizations without using a mouse.
This follows accessibility best practices recommended by the Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) guidelines and the WCAG 2.1 standard.
To make sure keyboard navigation works as expected, the dashboard author must enable Accessibility Mode in the workspace.
Screen Readers
GoodData dashboards and reports are compatible with popular screen readers such as:
- NVDA (Windows)
- JAWS (Windows)
- VoiceOver (macOS)
Screen readers can read titles, data labels, and chart descriptions aloud.
High-Contrast Mode
GoodData dashboards work in high-contrast display modes available in Windows and macOS. High-contrast themes help users with low vision or color perception differences see charts and text more clearly. All visual elements have been tested to remain readable in high-contrast environments.
Accessibility Mode
If your workspace has Accessibility Mode turned on, dashboards and exports include additional accessibility improvements:
- Hidden data tables under each visualization for screen readers
- Better keyboard focus and tab order
- Accessible PDF exports with structured data
Ask your administrator or dashboard author to enable this mode if you rely on assistive technologies.
Show Visualization as a Table
Every visualization includes a Show as table option that presents the same information in a structured table view.
This makes it easier for screen readers to read data or for users to copy it into other tools such as Excel. See the Display Chart as Table section for more information.
Some AI features and chat-based insights also provide text-based alternatives that describe what is shown in visualizations.
Accessible AI Assistant
Accessibility in GoodData is not limited to dashboards. AI features, such as AI Assistant, also follow accessibility guidelines and support keyboard interaction and readable output.
Features Not Supported
To keep dashboards compatible with screen readers and accessibility tools, some dashboard features are turned off or simplified when Accessibility Mode is enabled:
- Mapbox Geocharts
- Chart zooming
- Snapshot PDF export
- Complex nested containers
