Success with AI starts with a vision

At GoodData, we’ve been doing a lot of thinking about practical ways to bring AI and machine learning to a larger audience. While the big analyst firms are talking about “augmented analytics,” as if large numbers of “leading companies” have successfully woven AI deeply into their business fabrics, the reality is that according to PwC, close to 75% of IT leaders are still not there.

To be sure, IT leaders are concerned with a range of issues such as AI trust, fairness, ethics, governance, transparency, and proving real ROI. However, the real stumbling block in most organizations is simply that they are missing a sufficiently compelling, shared vision of what is possible.

This was one of the motivations behind my recent article on AI and Influencer Marketing for MarTech Series, getting business leaders to think about the benefits of artificial intelligence.  In the marketing space, it turns out that it can be quite difficult to separate genuine industry influencers from fakes, and AI can be put to work by:

  1. Finding influencers,
  2. Identifying fake accounts, and
  3. Determining which content is valuable for buyers

I see this as a win-win for brands and buyers alike.

In the coming months, GoodData will be putting out more content, including tutorials around practical ways to integrate machine learning and analytics, dealing with data preparation issues, meeting regulatory requirements, and generally productionalizing AI technology for deployment at-scale. I’ll be continuing my technical webinar series, incorporating machine learning examples wherever possible. I kicked off the series with a webinar about semantic layers and followed up with a webinar about setting up a data integration pipeline for repeatable analytics delivery. I’d encourage you to check them out and sign up for future webinars. I’ll be taking people into a deeper dive on various technical topics.

To make this content more relevant for you, I’d like to hear how your evaluation of machine learning and AI is going. What use cases are getting your organization excited about AI? What roadblocks are you hitting?  Please email me at: cameron.orourke@gooddata.com.
