In a recent ZDNet article on 2017’s top data trends, predictive analytics and machine learning were highlighted as one of the year’s major themes as companies began to focus on forecasting based on the data they receive—instead of focusing on reacting to that data. GoodData received a mention in the article due to our extensive work on machine learning, specifically referring to the value of our embedded analytics platform.
I was pleased to see that our hard work has been recognized; we’ve invested a lot of time and effort into developing a platform that incorporates machine learning and delivers actionable insights to our clients. This also comes on the heels of one of our customers, ServiceChannel, launching their machine learning solution.
ServiceChannel, which provides a single platform for facilities managers to manage all building operations, had massive amounts of data but struggled to synthesize this data into useful, forward-thinking recommendations. Our platform put this data to work, enabling ServiceChannel’s clients to make timely, data-driven decisions and take their analysis from reactive to proactive. By embedding data as close as possible to the point of action, GoodData and ServiceChannel were able to ensure that workflows would continue to improve and deliver more useful recommendations to ServiceChannel clients. I hope to build on this success as we continue to evolve our platform in 2018.
The article also discussed the rise of insight platforms-as-a-service (PaaS), another category in which we were recently recognized. Forrester’s recently released report, The Forrester Wave™: Insight Platforms-As-A-Service, Q3 2017 rated GoodData’s Enterprise Insights Platform as a “Strong Performer” overall, with top marks in Time to Value, Security and Governance, and Mindshare, and four out of five possible points in Governance and Optimization. I was delighted to get such high praise from Forrester in Q3, and I’m glad to see that insight PaaS has been established as a key area to watch moving forward. Our recognition in The Forrester Wave also validated the incredible work the GoodData team has done over the past year, and I am tremendously proud of what we’ve accomplished.
2017 was a year of impressive growth for the industry, and 2018 should be no different. I’m excited to see where the new year takes us. Applying the lessons we learned in 2017 to 2018 will be critical to advancing the GoodData platform and continuing to improve our platform for our customers.
