GoodData Secures $15 Million Funding, Adds Andreessen Horowitz and Google Executives to the Board

New Directors Bring Market-Scaling Expertise to Leading Cloud BI Platform

GoodData, provider of the world’s most powerful cloud business intelligence (BI) platform, today announced the company has closed $15 million in new venture financing, bringing the total raised to date to $28.5 million. It has also added two new members to the Board of Directors: John O’Farrell, general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, and Dave Girouard, president of Google Enterprise.

Andreessen Horowitz led the financing, with existing investors General Catalyst Partners, Fidelity Growth Partners and Windcrest Partners also contributing.

May 2011 is GoodData’s Biggest Month Ever

GoodData's commercial business grew at an equally rapid pace, with a greater than 600% growth in cumulative monthly recurring revenue (CMRR) over May 2010. May also saw numerous new account wins, increased commitment from existing customers, and new Powered by GoodData partners.

Business Intelligence and the Tale of 2 Summits

Business Intelligence is a weird market. Here at GoodData we like to refer to it as an $8 billion niche market, because it seems that the mainstream of BI is aimed at a small group of folks hanging out in the outer reaches of Enterprise IT departments, discussing arcane technical theories and treating “adoption” the way that economists talk about 3rd world economic growth. Meanwhile, the poor struggling line-of-business folks still toil away on Excel Spreadsheets despite the promises of vendors, consultants and the elusive internal IT department. It’s the classic IT divide, you see it everywhere.
